Shiori Ota is a photographer and director based in Tokyo and Osaka.
Her work explores femininity within all human beings, portraying it as a natural and powerful force.
She presents womanhood and the body as entities that unapologetically take up space.

Rooted in her background in feminist sociology and driven by a deep curiosity, her practice challenges the patriarchal norms deeply ingrained in Japanese society, while questioning established beauty standards, gender constructs, and the gaze that shapes them.

Alongside actively producing a large body of work, she founded Burning Magazine, a platform and community
for women and queer creatives to share, connect, and learn from one another.
